birth support
Birth is unpredictable and, oftentimes, overwhelming.
Having a two-doula team with you through the process offers an immediate and ongoing sense of security and excitement. You deserve that.
Birth Support with
live light birth & family
You’re looking for a doula who can support your goals, offer clear and evidence-based guidance, and feel like someone you can truly connect with.
At Live Light, you’re supported by a dedicated two-doula team who walks alongside you through pregnancy, labor, and those first moments after your baby arrives.
Our doulas offer a balance of evidence-based expertise and real-life experience. They understand the depth of this transition and hold space for both the emotional and practical parts of becoming a parent.
This is steady, consistent support so you can feel more prepared, more grounded, and more supported throughout your experience.

HOW WE SUPPORT YOU IN A HEALTHY FAMILY DEVELOPMENT •
What is birth support?
-
You’ll stay connected with your doula team throughout your pregnancy.
We’re here to support you through questions, shifts in your birth preferences, emotional ups and downs, and everything in between. You won’t be left wondering what to do or where to turn. We’re in it with you as things come up.
-
Your doula team will schedule a formal in-home preparation session where you’ll spend time getting clear on how you want to be supported.
Together, you’ll walk through different labor scenarios, practice comfort techniques, and talk through how your partner can feel confident and involved. This time is intentional and tailored to what matters most to you.
You’ll also meet virtually to check in, ask questions, and continue preparing as your birth gets closer.
-
When labor begins, your doula team is already on call and ready to support you.
We stay connected with you through early labor so you don’t feel unsure about what’s happening or what to do next. When you’re ready for in-person support, your lead doula joins you and remains by your side through your birth.
You’ll have continuous support, hands-on guidance, and a steady presence throughout your labor.
Your backup doula is also on call, which means you always have reliable coverage and support, no matter how your labor unfolds.
-
After your baby arrives, we don’t just disappear.
About a week after your birth, your doula will come back to check in, support your transition, and give you space to process your experience.
This is a time to reflect, ask questions, and feel supported as you settle into this new chapter.
CONTINUED SUPPORT AFTER BIRTH
Support doesn’t end when your baby arrives.
Many families start thinking about postpartum support after birth, when they’re already in the middle of recovery and adjusting to a newborn.
When you choose to continue care with our team, you’re supported by people who already know you, your birth experience, and what matters most to you.
There’s no need to start over or explain your story again.
We move with you from pregnancy into postpartum with consistency, trust, and a deeper understanding of how to support you in this next phase.
This creates a more grounded and supported transition into life with your baby.
-
The support you receive during birth can continue into the early days and weeks with your baby.
Our postpartum doulas provide hands-on support for new parents in Metro Detroit as you recover, adjust, and settle into life with your newborn. This can include newborn care, feeding guidance, emotional support, and help creating a rhythm that works for your family.
Each visit is shaped around what you need that day, so you feel supported in a way that’s practical, steady, and aligned with your goals.
-
There’s a different level of ease when your care continues with the same team.
We already know you, your birth experience, and what matters most to you. You don’t have to start over or explain your story again. We step into postpartum already connected and ready to support you in a way that feels familiar and aligned.
This continuity allows you to focus on your recovery and your baby, instead of adjusting to someone new.
-
The early postpartum period can feel like a big shift.
Having trusted support in place helps you move through it with more clarity and confidence. Instead of trying to figure everything out on your own, you have a team guiding you through feeding, newborn care, and your own recovery.
This kind of support creates a more grounded transition into parenthood, so you can focus on bonding with your baby and settling into your new routine.
