Natasha Kinner

Owner/director, Birth/Postpartum doula, Child Birth Education

Hello!

Hi, I’m Natasha, owner and director of Live Light Birth & Family.

I came to birth work with a deep belief that people deserve to understand what is happening in their bodies and feel confident participating in the decisions being made about their care.

I believe every person giving birth deserves to feel heard, supported, and part of the decision-making process.

Because the way we care for people during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum matters far beyond those few months.

When a mother or birthing person is cared for, held, informed, and supported through one of the biggest transitions of their life, they enter parenthood from a different place. When asking for help is treated as an expectation rather than a burden, we teach the next generation something different about care, community, and what people deserve during vulnerable seasons of life.

That belief sits at the center of Live Light.

I started as an individual doula, working directly with families to help them understand their options, trust themselves, and feel supported through birth. Building Live Light expanded the responsibility I felt. I was no longer thinking about the experience of one family at a time. I was building a team with the ability to reach more families while creating a place where doulas themselves feel valued, supported, and cared for in their work.

Today, I’m a birth doula, childbirth educator, prenatal yoga teacher, and breathwork facilitator. I’m also a mom, and my own experiences with motherhood, the NICU, and caring for my child through complex medical experiences have deeply shaped the way I understand advocacy, uncertainty, and the importance of having people beside you who know how to support you.

I care deeply about evidence. I care equally about the person sitting in front of me.

I want families to understand their options, ask questions, participate in their care, and know there is rarely one universally “right” way to give birth or become a parent. I also believe good birth workers stay curious. I’m always learning, reading, questioning, and refining the way we support families at Live Light.

Outside of birth work, I’m happiest traveling, exploring somewhere new, practicing yoga, drinking coffee, or spending time near the water. I’ve traveled around the world and lived abroad, but Michigan will always feel like home. I’m a freshwater girl through and through.

Live Light, to me, has grown to mean moving through life’s biggest transitions with support, knowledge, connection, and a little less weight to carry on your own.

That’s what I want for the families we serve.

And it’s what I want Live Light to keep putting into the world.
